Background of the British Monarchy.
The monarch is the head of state of the United Kingdom. The monarch is also the symbolic head of the Church of England. The British monarch is selected by Parliament and holds the title “Queen” (or “King”), rather than being the sovereign, as is the case with the American president and the French president. The current king is King Charles III, who has reigned since 8th Sep, 2022. His current official residence is Buckingham Palace.
Biography of King Charles III
Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh were the parents of King Charles III. He has been Duke of Cornwall & Duke of Rothesay since 1952. Before becoming the king of UK he has made the record of oldest & longest-serving heir apparent o UK throne. His also served as the Prince of Wales for the record time i.e from 1958 to 2022. He became the king of England after the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth II on 8-9-2022.
Charles was educated at schools in the United Kingdom and spent parts of his school holidays with his grandparents King George VI and Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. After graduating from Cambridge University in 1970 he served in the Royal Navy until 1975. He then worked for a short period as a coach driver before training as a pilot with the Royal Air Force. In 1981 he married Lady Diana Spencer & they had 2 sons: Prince of Wales William (born in 1982) & Prince Harry (born 1984). The end of their marriage was sad i.e divorce in 1996.

King Charles III was born on 14 Nov, 1948. His place of birth was Buckingham Palace. Canterbury Geoffrey Fisher baptised King Charles III in the Private Chapel at Windsor Castle on 15 Dec 1948. His godparents were the King’s cousin Prince George (later Duke of Kent); Princess Marina Duchess of Kent (the King’s aunt); Patricia Mountbatten Countess Mountbatten of Burma (the King’s second cousin once removed and Philip’s maternal first cousin); and Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon (later Countess of Strathmore and Kinghorne; the King’s maternal aunt). As a grandson of the British monarch in the male line and a great-grandson of Queen Alexandra (consort to Edward VII) he was styled His Royal Highness The Prince Charles of Edinburgh at birth.

King Charles III has been the subject of various controversies during his public life. In 2005 a leaked transcript of a conversation between Charles and Camilla caused further controversy when he was heard making disparaging remarks about various members of the British government. He has also been criticized for his views on architecture and for his involvement in the so-called “black spider” memos scandal.

He became known for his personal traits during his youth and for his character and personality in the years since. He had a passion for the land and animals and enjoyed spending time outdoors and hunting. He had a good relationship with his mother and his sister, Princess Anne, who was close to him.
